Looking unto Jesus.
Hebrews 12:2 'Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’
The Greek word ‘aphoran’ is translated in this verse as ‘looking’.
It literally means ‘to look away from’.
It is only when we look away from the pleasures of sin
and turn away from the pull of self centred lusts
that we can focus our attention upon Jesus.
He is the initiator and the completer of our faith.
His love for us joyfully gave all to save us.
He unites us with His life
so that we can joyfully live our life for Him.
