The Augsburg Confession
The Augsburg Confession (1530)
The Augsburg Confession states that baptism is necessary for salvation and the body and blood of Christ are really present in the Lord's Supper.
The baptism that saves is not water baptism but the baptism by the Holy Spirit into the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:13).
Romans 14:17 says "the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost".
The tragedy of the Augsburg Confession is its false teachings concerning the sacraments.
On the Jews and their Lies
This treatise concerning the Jews has been regarded as anti-Semitic, but Martin Luther's was not racist, his concern was the teachings of Judaism.
After publishing his work Jesus Christ was born a Jew (1523), Luther expected many Jews to become Christians.
However, the opposite was happening, and the interest in the Hebrew scriptures caused some Christians to turn to Judaism.
Martin Luther had been very friendly towards the Jews, but he became hostile because of the anti-Christian, Kabalistic Jewish teachings.
Luther published Vom Shem Hamphorus afterwards as an addition to this work, in which the Kabalistic, anti-Christian teachings of the Jews are seen.
However, this work is largely unknown, and Luther's fierce language in On the Jews and their Lies, has been misunderstood, and his theological argument,
which is excellent, has been ignored.
